So glad scan went well. Lovely that the children could come and see it too. You must be proud of Ben for giving his time to coach the boys football. What a decent and kind young man he is!!! 21st November, so near to your own birthday, who knows, may even be on that day!! Get some rest now, and try to build up your strength, lots of love x

Such lovely news Amanda. November baby! It must have been such a special experience for the children to be there for the scan. Shame that Ben wasn't there but good that he was being responsible and keeping to the undertaking to run the group.

Keep well.

Hi Amanda,

So glad the scan went well and the children were allowed to be present.
Perhaps Ben can come with you for the next one.
Any chance you can get a picture on here for us ?

Lots of love, Doreen xx

18th May

Yesterday I was SO sick I vomited five times really violently. It us because I have this horrid mucous in my throat which is making me cough and that is making me retch. A vicious circle.

I had said I'd pop to Emma's in the evening and I was sick whilst the two little boys were in the bath (lovely!) before I went- so they were all begging me not to go! But I felt better once I had been sick and drove there at 8pm. Mark was already there fixing their internet. he took Andy to play pool etc and I sat with Emma and it took all my strength not to be sick and fall asleep!

By 10pm I left and Mark was home soon afterwards...I just sat there staring into space as every movement made me jolt with nausea. In the end I managed to sleep (hooray!) and I feel slightly better today although still alot of mucous. I am not sure what is okay to take for it and what is not.

My mind is constantly on Thursday and the hospital, I feel a bit out of my depth as I am naturally very scared. At least Mark will be with me.

Love,
Amanda

Amanda I have exactly the same mucus thingy going on. It tickles my throat, I cough violently, then I'm sick.
The GP prescribed a nasal spray and sudofed tablets last time I was like that and they worked but of course with you being pregnant I don't know whether you would be allowed them? Might be worth checking?

Thank you for replying and helping. I have had enough of this now as it has given me a headache with all the coughing and the sickness is vile. I have decided to stop at the pharmacy and brace the very scary pharmacist (who loves Mark of course but not me!) and ask for advice?

Mark is insisting I ask the Dr tomorrow at my biggie appointment as they will at elats be able to tell me which meds I can or cannot take. I hope!

The thing is all my home remedies like ginger tea and lemony things make me feel more sick! LOL

Hope you feel better soon!

Love,

Amanda

HI,

I have been wanting to post about my appointment yesterday..

We were there for three whole hours! It was in the same place where Patrick was born although after I had had him they put me in a room on my own which was on the floor above. Again I felt so nervous even walking in there and had an urge to run away which is unlike me but this has been facing a fear.

Firstly I met a lovely midwife who took me in this huge toilet and explained I needed to do a urine sample (oh that's good, perhaps I'll get a result, I have been waiting since April!) and I had to do a test for MRSA! This shocked me a little but she explained many people are carriers...

The we saw a Consultant Physician who is nice but a little daunting in manner, very serious and professional. She explained she cares for all my other health problems, like RA and coeliac disease etc. We told her about the terrible sickness and she has given me anti-sickness pills- Mark kept asking for reassurance they were safe? but she kept urging me to try them. Naturally I haven't yet, but I probably will have to. She said I don't need to take them every day but if the sickness de-hydrates me too greatly it will become even worse.

She asked me about the RA and raised her eyebrows when I told her I had taken myself off all meds at 7 weeks pregnant. She asked why? and I explained I had had good suppression for my last five and even though the RA is worse I felt I should try. I did mention I had stiff elbows and swollen knees and she tried to persuade me to go back onto Hydro for the rest of the pregnancy! She then said we must check my bloods, esp the CRP and ESR which I agree as inflammation is bad...She also tested my thyroid ! and Vit B deficiency (at last someone who recognises RA can cause Vit deficiences!) but I have told her I will discuss the meds option with my rheumy in June. It was the only thing I stood my ground on as she is not a rheumy and I know my own body.

Next we saw the Consultant Obstetrician who was also quite daunting in that she is not warm. I like Drs to focus on you and really listen to everything you say. I have a need to connect with my DR and I didn't feel any warmth or connection with either of them which is a shame. When we walked into the room she was very stunted in what she said as if she wasn't sure what to say? Then I realised in utter horror that she was reading Patrick's old pregnancy and birth notes! My heart skipped a beat and I came over all cold as all my memories whirled around my head and she began asking questions of his terrible birth? I told her the story and she said 'Yes your pregnancy was so straight forwards and then it all happened.....' She then congratulated Mark and I for ringing the ambulance so quickly as Patrick had 'severe axphixiation'- not what I needed to hear whilst pregnant again- I nearly fainted in my seat. I see why she needed to talk about it but but but......

She then went on to explain that as we know already there is no prevention for abruptions but they can only monitor me and keep an eye on the pregnancy. I will have a scan at 24 weeks where they will detail the placenta as they can see it very clearly then. She says it is no guarantee at all but worth doing. After 24 weeks I will need to attend the hopsital weekly or two weekly. She has also asked if I would like to go on a special study where they scan the placenta for problems? We agreed to his too.

She has suggested I am admitted (IF all goes to plan which please God and All His Saints it will!) at 35 weeks pregnant and stay there until 37 weeks and then they'll do an elective section. She looked on her calendar to work out dates etc and has given me the 1st November as my birth date!! Incredibly it is a Feast day called All Saints that very day- how apt considering our dear Goddaughter is now among them all! We couldn't believe it - what a day to give birth on!

I left and burst into tears in the lift with Mark trying to calm and quiet me as I was quite loud! All the strain was coming out and I do feel scared I must admit. Because I know the seriousness of it all and the fact no one can do anything you do feel very vulnerable but we will cling onto God and keep trusting. I have many people praying!

I have been very busy today as we had friends over but it has distracted me...I am so sick still though so I better get some rest as I have a long weekend ahead of me...

Love,
A

What an emotional appointment! They all sound a bit clinical though but very thorough. Are you ok with the idea of a section? Am thinking of you and hoping the sickness is not too bad today. Please be careful now that the weather is a lot warmer - it will mean even more care not to become dehydrated. I hope you manage to get some rest this weekend.
